Brand strategy

What a brand strategy actually is (and why a logo isn't one)

Most founders think brand strategy is a visual exercise. It is a decision-making tool — and it should be written down before a single post goes live.

Strategy is a set of decisions

A brand strategy answers five questions: who you serve, what you promise them, why they should believe you, how you sound, and what you will never do. Everything visual comes afterwards.

Why founders skip it

It feels slow. But a founder without a written strategy makes the same decision fifty times a year — in captions, in pricing conversations, in partnerships. Deciding once saves hundreds of hours.

Where to start

Write one sentence: "We help [audience] achieve [outcome] without [the thing they dread]." If your team cannot recite it, you do not have a strategy yet — you have a logo.

The test

Show your last ten posts to a stranger. If they cannot tell you who your client is and what you stand for, the strategy is not doing its job.
